My Experience At Room 15 On August 25, 2016, I took a visit to my old school where I spend half of my school years. I decided to job shadow a teacher at Jefferson Elementary school because they have great bilingual classes which is the job that am interested in. I job shadow Grace Hernandez a first grade bilingual teacher who explained to me how wonderful her job is. While being there I got to see the everyday life of a teacher and how she helps them succeed everyday in school. As I arrived there I was a little anxious, I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but the thought of learning more about her job calmed me down. I began to walk to her classroom which is room 15. She received me with a warm welcome and smile, I then introduced myself and to my surprised she said she remember me from when I attended Jefferson Elementary School. I then began to feel more comfortable and took a sit at the back of the room. Minutes later the bell rang and the little first graders began to come in the classroom. They came in all enthusiastic and smiling. Many of them were staring at me wondering who I was. As soon as they arrived they began to get ready for class and before the tardy bell rang they were already sitting down on the carpet ready to learn. Mrs. Hernandez then introduced me to her class and they all welcomed me. Those kids were just so cute! I had the opportunity to work with the kids and help them with their work. I met a nice little boy who’s name is Alejandro. He gave me the most trouble, he was so full of energy and could not stay on his seat. I helped him through his work and he managed to finish it all. Mrs. Hernandez was busy all morning and I didn’t want to interfere with her work, so as soon as lunch time began we sat down outside and proceed to ask her my questions. For every question I asked her response convinced me more that education was the perfect career for me. She explained to me that in order to be a teacher no only do you need a BA or a teaching credential, but also being patient, organized and loving to work with kids is very important. She also recommend me to attend Fresno State after college, the same university she attended. After the interview she dismissed me and told me that if I ever need something to just contact her. I was really pleased with her attitude, she is really friendly and educated person. I left satisfied and confident of what I was going to do after high school. Attend Fresno State and prepare myself to become someone great like Mrs. Hernandez. Job shadowing Mrs. Hernandez was a great experience that opened my eyes, It helped me realize that there are many children out there who are in need of a helping hand and the best way that I can help is by becoming a teacher. Meeting her was such a great experience that I will never forget.
